My New Grocery List!

I'm a mom of three beautiful children that I adore with all of my heart.. Now I have always been one to dress up for occasions and church, but once I became a mom I just figured I needed the mom clothes.. Well after 4 years of wearing sweat pants and sneakers and after my second child was born I realized I really looked like a slob.. (my honest opinion). Why would I let my children be an excuse not to improve myself. If I feel good inside and I do.. why wouldn't that be reflected on my outside.

What I'm getting at is workout clothes are for working out. I don't remember when the grocery store became a workout place. Why is it that when talk shows do make-overs on moms they go looking in the grocery store.. Wouldn't it be great to go through a store and see all these gorgeous moms dressed to kill.. I don't mean you have to wear a ball gown..

Here is the important list of grocery store necessities:
1. Dark blue or black jeans, wide-leg or straight leg. If you are 140 pounds or less then go for the skinny jean.. but you really must be skinny to wear a skinny jean.. Otherwise anyone looks good in a straight leg jean.. Lose fitting if you are fuller in the thigh area. Even a trouser jean.. gives a dressy look in a jean.

2. A mid-hip jacket, can be one large button or 3 button down. Since this is a casual situation you can go for a more casual feel to the jacket.. Don't be afraid of colors.. For spring look for a thinner cotton so you still stay cool and a 3/4 length sleeve.. This will absolutely be a great staple for your wardrobe. Any body shape will benefit from this look thin to thick.. It hides any bumps you don't want seen or it gives you a little curve when you have none.

3. Long cami or tank top. Your tank top can go longer then your jacket. Sleeveless so you are not too hot for the spring/summer and go with a really bright color.. If you are not comfortable with color use this piece of clothing to experiment.. It will be under your jacket so only a little bit will show. Make sure it fits close to your body, but not tight. Remember you do have a jacket to cover over top..

4. Accessories: Shoes can be a great wedge or ballerina flat, or a flat with a really sharp point.. Again don't be afraid of color.. It is only a shoe go for broke and be a little wild.. We are moms not nuns. Since your sleeves are 3/4 length get a cute bangle bracelet and dangle earrings.. Go with either a scarf or chunky necklace. A good bag for shopping is always something that will go over your shoulder and head so a think messenger bag. Coach outlet store has really cute ones for under $100. Remember you can go a little cheaper on your outfit and wear a Coach bag and glam up an outfit.

So now you have a great outfit for grocery shopping and no one will be stopping you in a store saying you need a make-over.. There going to ask you for tips.. So you say why would I do all this for grocery shopping.. Haven't you ever been in the store and met someone that you use to go to HS with or college.. Do you really want them to think you have let yourself go this much.. NO!! You want to look great and feel great.. Plus go home and get a babysitter.. put on a great slingback heal or pointy toe shoe and now you are ready to go out with your husband!! Be prepared!! And be your BEST!

  1. Good tips, Robyn! I have to say that I actually do take time to dress up if I am going to the grocery store or the like. I've never been a sweats type of mom unless I know that I am going to be home cleaning all day or I'm sick. ;) I have recently discovered jackets and I LOVE THEM. They do hide a multitude of "sins" (aka battle of the bulge). :) I'm definitely diggin' the look. Keep the tips comin'! You've got to discover Polyvore.com and put some of these "outfits" together to display on your blog for added impact.
