Something Cheap

I know.. Cheap is not really a good word used to describe our clothes.. No one wants to be cheap. I know I don't want to look cheap. I want to look my best and do it with spending as little as possible.. So my goal is to give you some ideas that you can actually afford.

So here is a skirt, dress, and shorts outfits and all of the pieces are $50 or less.. Have fun shopping.

Outfit of the day: Thursday and sun is shining!

It is so beautiful out right now.. 74 and sunny.. I love it. In this great weather shorts are ideal, but to keep you looking your best you have to find the right shorts. I don't know who designed short shorts, but they were crazy. Even for those with the figures to wear really short shorts they just make our thighs look big. Maybe you wear short shorts, I'm sorry to say this to you but they don't look good. So what are your options. Longer shorts. I love the Bermuda short. It will actually make your legs look longer and slimmer as long as they are straight. If you have fuller thighs and a bigger backside then make sure your shorts are wider from the fullest part of your thigh.. trust me you will look slimmer. I love this outfit of the day. It is a great example of a long short and a really stylish top.. Just about any body type can wear this outfit. If you feel uncomfortable showing your arms then just add a cute short sleeve sweater or a wrap.. Have fun in sun!!

Dress Your Shape

I watched an entire segment of a show today that was all about dressing thinner.. Having "low-fat" clothes.. I totally understand the concept, but I think the person picking clothes was not very good at picking what would look good on different body shapes..

So here is my interpretation of dressing your shape.. If you have a smaller top and larger bottom or a few bumps to hide in the middle then this is a great summer dress for you.. It has nice gathers that will hide middle bulges, and it is lose in the bottom so you don't really know how full your thighs and hips are.. Plus it is just so cute.. and a great color for the season.

If you are straight up and down you want to create a waist line and some hips you want to find dresses that have a waist line already built into the dress.. You can also add a thick belt to accentuate and create that waist line we all want..

Outfit of the day: Monday

I'm a stay at home mom so I don't have to get dressed up for Monday, but I should look presentable if someone were to come to my door.. This is my idea of a working Monday for Moms..

But if you have to go to an office you want to be comfortable and chic as well. Make sure that your boring suit has a little flare..

Outfit of the day: Spring and Sunday..

It was cool today which is great for Spring.. I don't like 90 degree spring weather.. I need to ease into the hot.. So I picked an outfit that can be great for a breezy day. I did give two options for shoes.. Depending on your personality you may want a little more cheetah.. I can never have enough cheetah.

I Love Swimming

I love to swim! I have since I was a child, but as I have gotten older I have realized I really don't like bathing suits.. I'm sure there are a lot of women out there not looking forward to bathing suit season.. But you know what is great about bathing suit season that we can look forward to??? Everything else we need.. Cover-ups, shades, hats, sandals, beach totes.. Think of the possibilities.. We don't ever have to be seen in a swim suit, but we can be gorgeous in everything else. I know it is a little early, but it can be your greatest opportunity to be so stylish in a very inexpensive way.. You have to be creative in your search for everything fabulous. The best part of swimwear is the cover-up. It can be any type of dress that is cool, fun, and fashionable. Treat it like another great outfit in your closet..

Don't be afraid of wearing a hat.. Hats are so stylish and the bigger the better.. Not only will you be so chic, but you will also be protective of your greatest investment your FACE.. I love the sun, but I don't want wrinkles..

When accessorizing with jewelry you may want to find the beads that do not have any type of metal on them. That way you won't have a funny color left on your skin from getting wet and you won't be worried about ruining the jewelry. You also can use real gold if you can afford it or have it.

Have fun with colors.. This is the time to try bold and beautiful. You will probably be slightly tan and your skin can handle a more vibrant look. That goes for your make-up as well. Tropical is the way to go..

What will you need in your beach tote.. there are some necessities.. You'll need a great sunscreen. Mary Kay has a great 30SPF.. You can tan a little without burning. You'll need a great tinted lip balm with SPF in it.. Natural, Blush, Poppy or Rose.. Keep your lips protected from the sun, but keep you looking fab(which can be used on your lips and cheeks so if you have to run for lunch you'll still look your cute self). A great book is always a must for your tote.. Unless you are like me and have to keep 2 eyes on three kids and a husband, and of course water and snacks (for either yourself or your hungry and thirsty kids).

Now you can go from pool to dinner in your adorable tropical ensemble. Start checking the racks now for that cute sundress/cover-up. It is amazing what you can find on sale even before summer. Good luck!

Wedge & Gladiator

Some people may look at this title and think cheese and Russell Crowe? Well for all you fashionistas out there you know what I mean.. The Gladiator has been in style for at least a year or two now.. I have to say I haven't purchased a pair for myself but in my defense I was pregnant and my feet took a little while to recover.. Yes they are very trendy, but I think if you get the right pair you can keep them in your closet for a while.. If the straps go to high then they will look out of date in a year, so keep the straps closer to your ankle bone and go for a softer shade.. Silver, Tan, Cream, Gray or colors that match the tone of your skin will also look great.

Everyone should have a funky pair of wedges or just a colorful pair.. They're great for everyday and they will make plain outfits seem more stylish. Go for bright bold colors, patterns, really anything.. Shoes do not have to be only brown or black.. They will also stay in style forever.. My mom wore them when she was young and now I'm wearing them.. I have 3 pair of wedges and I love them and wear them all the time.. Really they are the "mom" heal.. You can walk in them easily while taking 3 kids to the mall or grocery shopping.. I do have to say if you have cloth or fabric shoes once they have your foot impression or start showing wear it is time to throw them out.. Also look at the back of your heal and make sure you don't have too many scuffs. If you do then it is time for a new pair.. Shoes do say a lot about a person.. Don't let your shoes say dirty, messy, or torn.. :)

Send me your questions or pictures of outfits your not sure of or need help with.. I would love to give you my honest opinion and help..

Capri or Not to Capri

I'm going to tell you something you may not want to hear.. Capri pants are just not that attractive.. On most body types they just do not flatter your figure.. If you have any hips at all they are going to make your hips looks much bigger then they really are because they usually taper in at the bottom.

I know what your going to say.. What will I wear in the summer if I don't like to wear shorts? I will give you lots of choices I promise.. First option is your pants or long shorts. If your thighs are fuller then just go with a baggie straight leg long short that comes to your knee. This is very flattering on any body shape. If you don't like your knees then just go with a short that comes right below your knee.. Just avoid the capri's.. ugh..

Now the other options for you are skirts or sun dresses.. Just as easy to wear and can be more flattering to certain body types. Look for skirts that are slim around the thighs and have a slight flare (a-line) or a soft straight.. Pencil skirts are great for pencil figures. If you have a fuller figure go for a-line or loose fitting straight skirt. Those skirts that have a lot of fluff well they just don't look very good.. Maybe no one has told you, but you need to know. Sundress are great when they have a soft a-line as well.. or empire waist. You want to accent your waist and have it loose around the thighs.

Get ideas from high end looks and go to more inexpensive places to shop. You need to have a plan in mind.. Look for outfits and then build on them. You don't need an entire new Spring wardrobe just a few great pieces you can intermix with what you have.. Have fun shopping!!
